The rules behind your result.

A size comparison, a ticket-allowance check and clearly identified unknowns.

Three separate checks

Every outside dimension is compared against the selected airline’s limits. Weight and ticket allowance are checked separately. No acceptance percentage or airport-enforcement prediction is calculated.

Comparing dimensions

We sort the three bag dimensions and the three limits from longest to shortest. This accounts for rotating a rectangular bag. Every side must fit. A total of the sides, volume in litres or an arbitrary tolerance does not replace those limits.

Measurements must include wheels, handles and pockets. For a soft or irregular bag, entered dimensions approximate its bounding size; the physical sizer remains the practical test.

Centimetres or inches: use your measurement

If you measure in centimetres, we compare with the published centimetre limits. If you measure in inches, we use the airline’s published inches. Changing display units afterwards does not change that comparison.

Flair currently publishes dimensions in centimetres only. The table labels calculated inch equivalents as conversions; a bag measured in inches is converted to centimetres for checking. Weight uses the published kg or lb limit according to the unit you weighed in.

What the ticket check covers

This edition covers ordinary adult baggage on one flight to, from or within Canada operated by one of the five airlines. You supply the route, fare and add-ons. Special benefits, unknown fares and connecting itineraries remain subject to a booking check. We do not access tickets or calculate fees.

How sources are selected

We use official pages and tariffs currently linked by the airline. WestJet’s domestic and international tariffs specify a 41 × 33 × 15 cm / 16 × 13 × 6 in personal item. Rule 5B says the tariff takes priority over conflicting website information, so the paragraph mentioning 14 cm is not used as the limit.

Flair’s old inch dimensions have been removed. Porter’s three current tariffs confirm 9 kg / 20 lb per item. For Standard outside Canada/Europe/Africa and Basic to Europe/Africa, texts differ on cabin-bag inclusion: only that ticket conclusion remains subject to booking confirmation.

Our quality checks

The server checks monitored sources every six hours. Changed or persistently inaccessible sources, or a job that stops running, pause affected conclusions; details are on our quality page. Rule changes need review and tests before publication. A reachable link alone does not renew a review date. Individual airline review dates appear on their guide.

Successful checks of every essential reference keep answers available without a mandatory weekly human review. Changed or persistently inaccessible sources pause affected conclusions. It also checks rule status with the server; if that status is unavailable, no result is confirmed. Issues are recorded in the correction history.
