Air Transat : check your cabin bag’s size
Its personal-item allowance is thinner than several other carriers: 13 cm. With Eco Budget, the route also determines whether a cabin bag is included.

Check my bagReference limits
Sides sorted longest to shortest; bag orientation is taken into account. Compare using the unit you measured your bag in.
| Bag type | All three outside dimensions | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Cabin bag | 55 × 40 × 23 cm21.5 × 15.5 × 9 in | No numeric limit on the cited webpage |
| Personal item | 43 × 31 × 13 cm17 × 12 × 5 in | No numeric limit on the cited webpage |
These limits apply to each outside dimension. Their sum does not replace the individual limits. The checker accounts for bag orientation.
What your fare changes
Physical size and ticket allowance are separate questions. Choose the exact fare. If you do not know it yet, compare the dimensions while leaving the ticket allowance unresolved.
- The published fare options include a cabin bag with Eco Budget on flights to or from Europe, Africa, Peru and Brazil.
- Domestic, Florida and sun routes exclude this bag with Eco Budget. Other US destinations should be confirmed against the booking.
- The reference page requires being able to lift the cabin bag unassisted; we do not invent a 10 kg limit.
Worked examples
These examples illustrate the reference rules. Open a check to see the bag and ticket separately, with the applicable limitations.
Eco Budget on a domestic route
The dimensions can fit even though the fare excludes a cabin bag. Enter the exact route: the same fare class does not necessarily offer the same allowance for every destination.
Check this example ↗Eco Budget to Europe
In this single-flight example, Europe is one of the routes where the fare includes a cabin bag. The bag must meet all three dimensions and be light enough to stow unassisted; we do not add an arbitrary 10 kg ceiling.
Check this example ↗A backpack too deep for the personal-item limit
A 43 × 31 × 16 cm personal item exceeds the 13 cm reference depth by 3 cm. Being included in the ticket does not validate its size. Measure bulging pockets too.

Yes. Measure the bag packed and closed at its outermost points. Bulging pockets and protruding wheels count too. The calculator uses the dimensions you enter. Potential compression is not permission: measure the bag as you will carry it and check the airline’s sizer.
No. The physical sizer, applicable ticket rules and onboard space still matter. An airline may require gate-checking even when the dimensions fit.
